Currency Converter not working? Here's how to fix it
Most issues with the Currency Converter are small and fixable in seconds. Work through these in order.
1. The tool won't load
Reload the page or open it in a fresh tab. If an extension blocks scripts, try private (incognito) mode — the calculator needs JavaScript, which is on by default in every modern browser.
2. The rates look wrong or outdated
Exchange rates are fetched live when you open the tool. If your internet connection was briefly unavailable, the cached rates may be stale. Reload the page to pull fresh data from the source.
3. The matrix is slow to render
The interactive matrix renders 24 currencies at once. On older devices or browsers with many open tabs, this can take a moment. Close unused tabs and try again — the calculation itself is instant once the grid loads.
4. A specific currency pair looks off
Different data sources round rates differently. Cross-check the pair against a financial news site to confirm. The converter uses standard mid-market rates, so small differences from bank quotes are normal.
5. The converted value does not match my bank's quote
Banks and payment apps add their own spread or margin on top of the mid-market rate. The converter shows the raw mid-market rate so you can see the true baseline before any markup.
Verdict
Nine out of ten issues with the Currency Converter are solved by a page reload or by confirming your internet connection is active.
