Age Calculator not working? Here's how to fix it

Most issues with the Age Calculator are small and fixable in seconds. Work through these in order.

1. The age looks too high or low

Check that you entered the correct birth date and that the reference date is what you expect. If the reference date is not set to today, the result reflects that date instead — a common reason for an unexpected age.

2. The years seem one short

Remember that age counts completed years up to — not including — your birthday. Someone born on March 1 is 25 until March 1 arrives, not before. The months and days breakdown explains exactly why the number looks that way.

3. The months won't match my manual count

The calculator counts full calendar months, not fixed 30-day blocks. Because months have 28 to 31 days, total month counts can differ from a quick manual estimate. Trust the calendar-based result.

4. The next birthday date looks wrong

Verify the birth date is correct. The next birthday is derived directly from the day and month of birth, so a transposed day or month shifts the result. Double-check the input.

5. The tool won't load at all

Reload the page or open it in a fresh tab. If an extension blocks scripts, try private (incognito) mode — the calculator needs JavaScript, which is on by default in every modern browser.

Still stuck?

Try a different current browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge). The tool behaves the same everywhere, so a fresh environment usually resolves the last edge cases.

Verdict

Most problems with Age Calculator are solved by checking your birth and reference dates or reloading the page.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my age look off by a year?

Age counts completed years up to but not including your birthday, so you may appear a year younger shortly before the date.

Is the reference date affecting my result?

Yes. If the reference date isn't today, the age is computed as of that date. Reset it to today to use the current date.

Why don't my manual month counts match?

The calculator uses real calendar months of varying lengths rather than fixed 30-day blocks.
