Age Calculator: frequently asked questions
Straight answers to the questions people ask most about age and the Age Calculator.
How is exact age calculated?
The calculator counts the number of completed years between the birth date and reference date, then the remaining full months, then the remaining days. It follows the real calendar, so leap years and month lengths are handled correctly.
What does "years, months, and days" mean?
It's your age broken into the largest units. For example, someone 25 years, 3 months, and 10 days old has completed 25 full years, 3 full months, and 10 further days.
Why does my age depend on the reference date?
Age is always relative to a reference date. By default that's today, but you can set any date to compute age as of a specific day, such as for an application or historical record.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Enter your birth date in a browser and press Calculate. There is no installation, signup, or account.
