Temperature Converter not working? Here's how to fix it
Most issues with the Temperature Converter are small and fixable in seconds. Work through these in order.
1. The tool won't load
Reload the page, or open it in a fresh tab. If an extension blocks scripts, try private (incognito) mode — Temperature Converter needs JavaScript, which is on by default in every modern browser. If you are offline, the tool still works once the page has loaded once.
2. No results appear when I type
Make sure you typed a valid number in a scale field using a period for decimals (for example "37.5", not "37,5"). Also confirm you haven't cleared the field. The other fields update only when a numeric value is present.
3. The Fahrenheit value seems way off
The conversion formula is °F = °C × 9/5 + 32. If you typed a low Celsius value (say 20) and expected a high Fahrenheit result, the answer is correct — 20 °C equals 68 °F. Remember the 32-degree offset. A common mistake is forgetting to multiply by 9/5 before adding 32, but the tool always applies the full formula.
4. I can't get Kelvin to work correctly
Kelvin has a 273.15 offset from Celsius. If you enter 100 in the Celsius field, the Kelvin field shows 373.15 — not 100. To enter a Kelvin value directly, type into the Kelvin field (for example "273.15" to see 0 °C).
5. Values at absolute zero seem odd
Absolute zero is 0 K = -273.15 °C = -459.67 °F. Values below this are physically meaningless but mathematically valid — the tool will calculate them, but they represent temperatures that cannot exist.
Still stuck?
Try a different current browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge). The tool behaves identically everywhere, so a fresh environment usually resolves the last edge cases.
Verdict
Nine out of ten problems with Temperature Converter are solved by a reload, a private window, or checking which scale field you are typing into.
